I'd especially welcome a presentation on the off chance that our calendars sync up so I can get him some espresso, as I respect the abundance of information he has created in the field. Much thanks to you, Anna As should be obvious, Anna held the message to two sections at greatest. However, more significantly, she responded to the accompanying inquiries: For what reason does she need the presentation? Shouldn't something be said about the individual's experience intrigued her? What explicitly about their experience made them exceptional? What is her expert synopsis or foundation outline? What does she plan to escape the presentation? By responding to these four inquiries, Anna did two significant things: She enunciated everything better than the common association could, and she made it easy for the shared association with consent to send a presentation. Since now you can pen the message beneath, reorder Anna's privilege under it, and hit send. A Lesson in Brand Management, Courtesy of Bill Cosby

A Lesson in Brand Management, Courtesy of Bill Cosby The Internet is an incredible asset. Use it well, and you can turn into the people groups champion. Simply look at the interminably ridiculous and marginally anarchic Tumblr nearness of Dennys. An old gentleman hula loops with an onion ring and gets the applause of thousands of users. A blockhead reference to Taylor Swift fares also well. Dennys runs a solid Tumblr game by grasping the stages culture. The Dennys blog is definitely not a grave corporate special device its a joyful little network, and Tumblr clients have become extremely, enamored with the Dennys brand. The burger joint chain has effectively transformed Tumblr into a significant customer base (and perhaps an ability network) which may have something to do with why the organization saw its profit develop by just about 19 percent last quarter. Pulling a Dennys is no straightforward undertaking. As freewheeling as the companys Tumblr page appears, its the consequence of brilliant count. Im ready to wager that whoever runs the record is a Tumblr local, or if nothing else a damn observant researcher: corporate behemoth or not, Dennys posts seem to be real and convincing, in order with the feel, inclinations, and comical inclination endemic to Tumblr. The Dennys triumph is particularly excellent when you consider exactly how doubtful Internet people group will in general be of corporate substances. Review how harshly the occupants of Tumblr responded when Yahoo purchased the stage and now, a significant number of those equivalent clients are reblogging Dennys posts left and right. Still unconvinced that Dennys brand chiefs have demonstrated uncommon ability on the Web? Still imagine that anybody can jump carelessly into the Internet and gain armies of revering fans by basically being irregular and hip? All things considered, at that point you and I have to discuss Bill Cosby. How Not to Manage Your Brand Online First of all: I perceive that Cosby is a performer and character not an organization hoping to draw in ability so the comparisons I make between his image hardships and the sparkling accomplishment of Dennys will be defective. That being stated, Cosbys objectives online are still genuinely like the objectives of any organization. Whether or not or a brand is hoping to pull in fans, clients, or ability, theyre principally hoping to develop altruism and a positive open picture. Along these lines, I think brands about various types can gain from Cosbys groups botches. For the individuals who dont know, Cosby is the middle of an open picture emergency: hes confronting 14 claims of sexual ambush, as indicated by CNN. I am not here to say something regarding whether he is liable. I am neither appointed authority nor jury, and my assessments on these charges would require a totally isolated piece. I bring these charges up in light of the fact that I presume they spurred his (or his online life groups) choice to tweet an image of him and welcome other Twitter records to image him on Monday. On the off chance that my doubts are right, this was Cosbys first urgent error: you will never at any point, ever redirect an outrage of this size by attempting to situate yourself as an innocuous jokester who needs the Internet to cooperate with you. Claims of this seriousness won't be dissipated with a couple of ridiculous pictures, and to figure this could be the situation shows both a horrendously musically challenged reaction to genuine allegations and an underestimation of open profound quality. For Cosby to beat these claims assuming, to be sure, he is blameless; on the off chance that he isn't, I dont accept hellfire have the option to defeat them, nor do I essentially accept he ought to have the option to conquer them requires much something other than palling around with Twitter. It requires genuine, thorough, direct commitment with the current issue. Cosbys legitimate group has given a progression of explanations that endeavor to invalidate the claims, yet his (or his social groups) choice to play it easygoing amidst the firestorm was a genuine stumble. It made Cosby appear to be careless: to figure he could welcome images one after another like this shows misguided thinking. Thus, it should not shock anyone that the images Cosby got were all wry and venomous, with numerous by and large blaming him for being an attacker (see the above-connected CNN article for models). Cosbys (or his groups) choice to chill out amidst such a circumstance just served to additionally bring down his regard in the open eye. This is on the grounds that the image me tweet came up short on exactly the same legitimacy that makes the Dennys blog such a triumph. Dennys is clearly on top of the musings and feelings of the individuals it collaborates with. The Cosby Twitter account, then again, attempted to not really cleverly control fans and supporters into serving its own plan. The Cosby brand needed individuals to disregard an intense reality. Such a move is hostile: it thinks little of the organization and convictions of the very individuals it tries to prevail upon. Why, at that point, would anybody conform? Why wouldnt they retaliate and express their mistake and disturb? The fact of the matter is this: no brand will ever win reverence or steadfastness by rewarding its intended interest group like a lot of effortlessly influenced suckers. Genuineness, trustworthiness, and common comprehension are essential to mark accomplishment in the Internet age. On the off chance that you cannot address your crowds concerns legitimately and genuinely, youd best keep your mouth shut until you can. Your image might just never confront charges as genuine as the ones Cosby right now faces, yet the point despite everything stands: your shoppers the individuals who tail you, purchase your items, appreciate what you do, and focus on your moves are people. Dont attempt to control them into seeing things your way; rather, attempt to genuinely interface with them. Cosby and his group didn't do this. They were planning to divert the individuals with what adds up to computerized bread and carnivals. It absolutely doesnt win them any generosity. On the off chance that anything, it makes every one of us more distrustful about Cosbys honesty.

Hiring Recent Graduates What You Need To Know

Hiring Recent Graduates What You Need To Know Graduation season is in full swing. As a hiring manager, that means you’ll have a whole new crop of recent graduates looking to impress you with their resumes. But it also means you’ll have a whole new crop of talented candidates your organization needs to impress or risk losing to the competition. In the past, large organizations have had the advantage when it comes to recruiting top talent, but data from the recently released Accenture Strategy 2015 U.S. College Graduate Employment Study suggests recent graduates are looking for something entirely different. Today, only 15 percent of recent graduates are interested in working for a large organization, while 45 percent express interest in working at a mid-size or small company. Clearly, smaller is better for 2015 graduates. So, what do you do if you’re a hiring manager or HR professional at a large organization? You need to make your organization feel smaller during the hiring process, so recent graduates don’t feel like they’ll be just another rung in the corporate ladder. Here are 3 strategies that will help you compete for the most talented recent graduates on the job market:1. Increase responsibility at the entry-level The vast majority of recent graduates have put a lot of thought into their career path. In fact, Accenture Strategy’s study shows that 82 percent of them considered the job market before even choosing a major. But it’s not just that they’ve thought their career path through, 80 percent also feel like their education prepared them well for work and that means they’ll want to get started right away. One of the more attractive things about entry-level roles at smaller organizations is that they typically offer recent graduates more responsibility and more opportunities to put what they’ve learned to good use. If your organization wants to capture the best talent, make sure it’s offering recent graduates entry-level positions that are more than just glorified internships. Remember, recent graduates have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours earning their degrees, and they want to apply that knowledge to make an impact in their career. In today’s competitive job market, large organizations can’t afford to make the mistake of not offering engaging, challenging work to recent graduates. Consider increasing the responsibilities of your entry-level positions from the start or, at the very least, providing recent graduates with a “road map” to increased responsibility and professional growth. 2.  Create and highlight a “smaller feel” for your organization When it comes to the organizations they choose, recent graduates care more about finding a company they enjoy working for than about money. In fact, 60 percent of graduates prioritize working for an organization with a good social environment over a high salary, which can be an issue for larger organizations. Traditionally, the larger the organization, the more rigid and strict the organizational culture tends to be. But if you’re looking for an easy way to make your organization feel smaller, think about highlighting different professionals at your organization on your website. Talk about what makes them special, how they impact the organization and what they’re like both as professionals and outside the office. Share images and stories from company events, and make sure to personalize the details so that employees from every level of the organization are represented. 3. Be an organization that cares about professional development Recent graduates believe that professional development and continuing education are the stepping stones to career advancement, and they want you to feel the same. A staggering 77 percent of recent graduates expect their employers to provide on-the-job training and professional development opportunities, but only 50 percent report receiving it. This is an area where larger organizations can excel. Larger organizations are in the unique position of being able to draw from a deep pool of institutional and industry-based knowledge. Leverage this knowledge pool to attract talented, recent graduates who are are seeking out opportunities for professional development. Make an effort to develop training programs that prepare recent graduates for the challenges they will find on the job, and put them in a position to succeed in their careers. 4. Think small to score big talent Just because you’re a large organization doesn’t mean you have to recruit like one. As graduation season progresses, consider how you can incorporate these three “small company” approaches into your organization’s hiring strategy, to attract the big talent from the recent graduate pool and turn those recent graduates into successful, long term employees. Is your organization doing what it takes to capture the best new talent on the market? What other approaches are there for making your organization “feel smaller” to recent graduates?

Why I Got Rejected From a Job When I Felt I Did Well In The Interview

Why I Got Rejected From a Job When I Felt I Did Well In The Interview You thought you did a great job in the interview and its almost for sure youre gonna get the offer, however after few weeks all you got is a rejection email. Quite honestly you are not alone. Many people are complaining that the interview results are totally different from their expectations and they truly believed that they were treated unfairly. They are keeping asking why I got rejected from a job when I felt I did a good job. But majority of the time its not the case. After I had many conversations and investigations on this issue, I noticed that in almost all these cases the interview candidate hadnt had a good enough performance without even knowing. In this post, I want to use my experiences to help you nail down reasons why some people got rejected when they felt they did well and how to improve. I hope after reading this post you can have a relatively more accurate expectation of your interview performance and clearer picture of your drawbacks. 1. Why is it important to analyze this? Some people may wonder the purpose to analyze this as they think if I fail, then I fail. All I need is moving on. However having a better understanding of the real cause can help you avoid the same mistakes and significantly improve the chance of getting hired. One example is that a senior student came to me talking about his experiences years ago. At that time he was trying to find an internship among several startups. Not until his interview for the 4th company did he realize that he failed the past three interviews for the same reason. Actually whenever the interviewer asked about his future plan, he always said he would go to grad school although he wasnt  100% sure. Many startups took internship as a way to recruit future full-time employees and when they knew theres no chance for you to convert after three months, they got less interested in you. This is an extreme case, but I want to make the point clear that once you know the real cause of the failure, you are more likely to be better the next time instead of repeating the same failure. 2. Dont trust feedbacks from the interviewer. Their job is to keep you happy even if you screwed up everything, which is due to both policy and humanity. For companies, they wont allow to give you the feedback right after the interview and actually they cant since it may take some time for the hiring committee to evaluate based on the interview process. For interviewers, its hard for them to give people negative feedback the first time they meet each other and Im pretty sure youll have the same feeling when you were an interviewer. This is exactly the reason why so many people had the illusion that they did a great job in the interview. 3. Most of the time, its your technical skills. I did an experiment last month by talking with 18 folks who thought they did well or okay in the interview but failed. For 13 out of 18 of them Im pretty sure that they didnt show enough technical skills during the interview. Actually this also resonates with my experiences when I interviewed candidates because most of the time they failed due to the same reason. Their failures  can be categorized in three  cases. First, answer is incorrect. Its possible that your solution doesnt cover all the cases of the question, or your code just doesnt work in some circumstances. A more common case is that you failed to provide correct answer or judgement during the discussion. For example, interviewers usually like to ask your time/space complexity and what are those memory used for, but many people didnt give the correct answer without knowing. Second, solution is not optimal. You can hardly pass the interview with a brute force solution when the optimal one is much faster. If the interviewer asked you if there were better solutions, you should know that your solution is not optimal. Last, code is not professional. Inconsistent coding style, no input checking or even pseudo code are all unacceptable. Check  7 Simple Ways to Improve Your Code In Interviews  to know more about this. If you are not sure about this point, either Google search your interview questions or describe the whole process with some experienced engineers, youll definitely know the answer. Also dont ignore those tiny questions that were asked during the discussion, they are equally important. 4. Probably you were just too slow Normally you will be asked one or two questions in a 45min-1h session depending on the difficulty. A common scenario is that the candidate successfully solved the first question with correct code on the whiteboard, but the interviewer had no time for the second question, thus told the candidate that he did a great job and its done. Another case is that there were 10min left for the second question, the interviewer decided to ask you the question but you were not required to write code. It doesnt mean that you have no chance for the second scenario, but at least your speed is not good enough as expected. It might not be easy to know if you were too slow as sometimes the interviewer like to discuss and extend a single question for the whole interview session. The best approach is always describing the whole process in detail (not only the question but the all the discussion) with an experienced interviewer, he will be more likely to know the cause based on his experiences. Also try to search for solutions of the question and you should have some sense of difficulty given that you have practiced with lots of questions before. One easy way to improve your speed is to set a timer while practicing, which will also give you some pressure. You wont know how slow you are until you start tracking the time. 5. Company culture fit Why do you want to join company X? is the most common question for this topic. Although theres no correct or standard answer, certain responses are clearly bad like I hate my ex-manager or I just want to change an environment etc.. Its not easy to know if you were having conflict with that companys culture, but trying to go over all these kind of questions and discussions can definitely be helpful. Also you should always have a clear answer about why you want to join the company and be really familiar with its culture, working style and its product as well. This approach not only helps you be better prepared for the interview, but also let you be aware of whether you are a great fit for the company as the interview is a mutual selection process. 6. Other red flags Some other small behaviors may contribute to the failure, for example you showed no passion about its product or you may just have very limited experience with it, which is clearly bad as people dont want to hire someone who knows nothing about the company. Or you were always unconfident about your solution and judgement, which is also not a good sign. We covered this topic at this post 7 Red Flags In Coding Interviews. Summary Its important to understand the reason of failure and learn from it. Also having mock interviews with experienced interviewers can also help you figure out your drawbacks. Of course everyone should work hard to prepare your interview, whats more important is to understand yourself and prepare in the most efficient way. Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Ace the 15 Most Frequently Asked Interview Questions (June 2020)

Ace the 15 Most Frequently Asked Interview Questions (June 2020) Ace the 15 Most Frequently Asked Interview Questions 2020 Image Source: iStockThe  key to nailing an interview is research, and not just researching the company you have applied to. It is about knowing your own résumé inside-out, understanding how you represent a package of skills and experience, and relating these details to the core values and profile of the company that you want to work for. Before we get into a strategy for answering the most  frequently asked interview questions, it’s imperative that you ensure that your appearance and demeanour will make an instant, and lasting, positive impression in the minds of your interviewers.A neat and pressed suit, and a clean and groomed appearance  is essential, and it’s also recommended that you get a professional bag or case for carrying any documents you might require on the day. Check out the huge range of options on Amazon, which include such varying, but high quality, options as the  Mancro Business Water-Resistant Polyester Laptop Backpack, the Samsonite Classic Three Gusset Lg Toploader briefcase,  or the  Life Boost Vintage Canvas Satchel Bag.With that stage of prep taken care of, the  three key letters you need to focus on now are  F, A and Q. The  success of many interviews can often depend on how well you answer the most Frequently Asked interview QuestionsThere are numerous common questions that crop up time and time again in interviews. Occasionally you will be blindsided, but that is why it is crucially important that you use your own résumé as a means of fortifying your own self-worth, and of being positive, pleasant and confident at all times.  Give satisfactory answers to any or all of the following 15 most frequently asked interview questions, and you will certainly make your interviewer sit up and take notice. Good luck to all those preparing for interviews at this time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 1. Tell me about yourselfNever  mistake this question as a soft one to allow you to settle into the interview. Every ques tion you will hear over the next while is loaded, and even in this one, preparation will assist you greatly. They don’t want to hear a bland, potted version of your history. They want to get an idea of your communication style, and whether you are able to pitch your core professional values and skillset in a manner that tallies with their business’s needs. Study your company research, and your résumé, with the utmost care, and join the dots between what you have to offer, and what they need.2. What are your strengths / weaknesses?Like many of the most frequently asked interview questions, this one should not be taken for granted. Either answer offers you the opportunity to either impress or underwhelm, so be prepared. For strengths, they’re looking for skills relevant and desirable to their business, as well as confidence and self-assurance, but not arrogance. With weaknesses, they want to know about your inner strength, how you can turn negatives into a positive, with a pra ctical demonstration as to how you achieved it. Think about things that irk bossesâ€"missing deadlines, shoddy timekeeping, lack of attention to detailâ€"and think of a simple story from the past demonstrating how you improved on one of these undesirables and learnt from it. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 3. Why did you apply for this role?Again, your answer to this question should be based on your investigations into the company’s background. Essentially, you are being asked, what do you think you have to offer this business? Think about your long-term wishes and ambitions, and about your career progression to date, and sincerely outline how your specific skills and experience make you a good fit for them.4. How familiar are you with our company?Find out about the company’s historyâ€"here is what you should be looking for: How long have they been in existence; have they always been based in their current location? If not, why? Research business news to find out anything noteworthy involving the company. Have they won any awards, and if so, do they relate to the company’s core values or ethos? Who are the most high profile members of the organisation, and what do they do, and what have been their major accomplishments. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 5. What would you hope to accomplish in your first 100 days? This question drills deeper than number 3. It may be a frequently asked interview question, but it’s no filler. You cannot bluff it, and you will be leaning on your research, as you will be relating specific skills to as specific tasks required from the vacant role as you have been unable to discover.6. Why is there a gap in your employment dates?Although there may be a negative reason for this gap, it is vital that you stay positive. If you have had to leave a previous position because of a personality clash with a colleague or a boss, never speak ill of the organisation or any individual within it. There is no way that you will emerge looking good from trashing colleagues, even past ones. Always choose positive reasons such as taking time to search for a new opportunity, for example. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 7. What are your salary expectations? While it’s advisable not to show your hand too early, particularly in the first interview, this question can be quite loaded and possibly a test to see how well you handle difficult questions. The best approach here is to be polite and find some way of turning the question back to the interviewer, asking whether the company has a range for the role advertised. That may get you an answer, but if it does not, say it would depend on the company’s expectations for the role, and give a wide salary range..8. What achievement are you proudest of?It’s questions like this where you will find the payoff for careful research of your own résumé. Make sure you have chosen a good accomplishment from your personal history to put to them, and briefly describe the circumstances. This can range from a specific project, to a suggestion that you made to a superior that was a successful one. If any of this relates to the specific job you’ve applied for, you will be on solid ground here. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 9. What would your present boss tell us about you that could be improved?Simply a test to see if you will speak ill of your present or most recent employer. Please do not fall into this trap. If you do, you could very well blow the entire interview. Always stay positive, and emphasise your skills and your achievements, and say that you would be surprised to hear if your boss was dissatisfied with any aspect of your performance.10. What’s the most difficult situation you’ve ever encountered?Again, dont fall into the trap of being negative. You must think and express yourself positively. Think of a specific incident that you’ve encountered with a colleague or a super ior and discuss how your solved the problem, detailing that part of the process, rather than the difficulty itself. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 11. How would you fire someone?Firing someoneâ€"which is not the same as laying them off, or including them in a round of redundancyâ€"is the most difficult thing that any employer will have to do. However, there are times when it is the right thing to do, for the sake of the business. Show to the interviewer that you take this question with all seriousness. This is serious. Do not make light of it or in any way seem like you like to fire people. At the same time, you will do it when it is the right thing to do. When it comes to the organization versus the individual who has created a harmful situation, you will protect the organization. Remember firing is not the same as layoff or reduction in force.12. What was the last book you read that deeply impacted on you?Choose a book that is likely to tally with the values ex pressed in the company’s mission statement and its track record. Do not bluff. But everyone has read something, whether books or a magazine article that has affected them in a profound way. Relating it to the company is an advantage, but don’t be dishonest. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 13. Who is your business role model in business? Here is a golden opportunity for you to either reference a specific mentorâ€"a mentor/mentee relationship is respected and admired by interviewers and employersâ€"or famous person whose values and achievements tally with those of the company that youre seeking to join. Dont stray too far from those values, because it could signal that you might not be happy working there.14. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?Do not pick the lazy or flippant option, and say at the job youre applying for! What youre looking for here is an answer that is a logical extension of your career path, while also referencing the core values of th e firm you’re applying to. Best bet is to go for something generic but with certain magical key words, like Working in a job where Im fulfilled, challenged and happy.” (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 15. Do you have any questions for me?This  is the most obvious question of all. There are scores of questions that you could ask. Here is a handy list of just 10 of the best that you could put to them. Always ask at least one, and be alert for opportunities to ask supplementary questions, depending on the answer. If you  repeatedly nail this list of  most frequently asked interview questions in your own time, until you can answer them instinctively.  But it’s true that with  your research done, you may well still be nervous. If so, kick back and enjoy this lovely TED Talk by Anna Post on the etiquette of job interviews. In it, she briefly discusses the simple things, behaviours and etiquette, that can needlessly destroy the golden opportunity of the interview. He re is her big take away, and you should emboss it on your brain.Frankly none of these things should be a reason that you dont get a job, for which you have skills and experience and qualifications to do.

Naval Air Crew Candidate School (NACCS - Pensacola)

Maritime Air Crew Candidate School (NACCS - Pensacola) Maritime Air Crew Candidate School (NACCS - Pensacola) Holy messengers exist. The Navy makes them and its industrial facility is in Florida. Naval force heavenly attendants wear green flight suits and cozy fitting flight protective caps that pretty much rule out coronas or even cushy white plumes. These watchman holy messengers have loyally stood watch over avionics groups, travelers, airplane, and freight since the beginning of maritime flight. However they go for the most part unnoticed among the remainder of the armada, set apart from ordinary Sailors just by the gold wings nailed to their chests with the letters air conditioning marked in the inside. The letters mean aircrew, and procuring one of the uncommon gold enrolled pins is perhaps the hardest capability in the armada. NACCS at NAS Formally known as the Naval Air Crew Candidate School (NACCS), Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Fla., it's an obligation station that can be effortlessly confused with a little window into paradise with for the most part year-around sunbathing climate. Be that as it may, don't let the excursion like setting fool you: NACCS is definitely not a get-away for aircrew applicants. Training camp physical preparing may set you up for obligation in the Navy, however it doesn't set you up for aircrew school, said Air Crew Candidate, Airman Apprentice William Joseph Hamilton. Just to procure the option to endeavor aircrew school is a physical and mental test. Commendable applicants and all volunteers must be fit as a fiddle and be a sufficient swimmer to breeze through an inferior swim assessment during training camp. They should pass the Navy's physical wellness evaluation (PFA) with a good medium in all classifications for their sex and age, and pass a flight physical before going to the aircrew school's quarterdeck. Aircrew obligation isn't for everybody. Mariners can and do present a drop on demand anytime during the high-hazard aircrew preparing process. Solid physical, mental and even passionate impediments get rid of any individual who can't deal with whatever is tossed their direction. We can't simply toss any enrolled fellow into an airplane and anticipate that him should add to the crucial, Master Chief Aviation Warfare Systems Operator Kenneth J. Ellenburg, NACCS Master Chief Petty Officer responsible for preparing. Flying Navy is nothing similar to flying on a carrier. There's a great deal for aircrew work force to do during a flight. Air Crew Duties Aircrew missions differ contingent upon the sort of airplane they are alloted to and that airplane's entrusting. Naval force airplane move Sailors and mail, draw in targets, lead observation, direct fights, chase submarines and perform different assignments the Navy considers fundamental. Aircrew obligations during these flights can incorporate upkeep of airborne electronic, mechanical and arms conveyance frameworks; working airborne electronic gear; performing strategic obligations as flight engineers, loadmasters, investigators and reel administrators on Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) airplane; working airborne mine countermeasures hardware, or team served weapons; and filling in as flight correspondences administrators, in-flight clinical specialists or even airline stewards. Aircrew makes the mission fruitful, said Ellenburg. The pilots simply get you there. Here and there, simply arriving and back is the most troublesome piece of the mission. By structure, pretty much every plane and helicopter gadget aircrew up-and-comers move on board at NACCS will crash during preparing. Educators burn through brief period in snapping their understudy's consideration into the unforgiving truth of maritime avionics, where accidents can and regularly occur. Preparing contraptions frightfully named after pilot bad dreams, similar to the helicopter dunker, a full-scale mock-up of a helicopter lodge, are utilized by teachers to crash applicants into the water. Abruptly, educators send the dunker plunging to the beverage, pivoting the lodge as it sinks. Understudies are required to departure from their seats through explicit pathways once while wearing their flight gear, of course with dark out goggles. In the same way as other Navy employments, aircrew endurance focuses on tender loving care and following systems, which are bored into up-and-comers' heads until they're instinctual. You don't convey an agenda with you when you hit the water, said Ellenburg. You must be intellectually intense enough to do the correct things since you'll possibly get one possibility if fiasco discovers you. Escaping the airplane is just piece of enduring a setback adrift. Aircrew work force must abstain from suffocating while at the same time avoiding sinking airplane, potential fires, adversary animosity, heat, cold, waves, fatigue, drying out and different deterrents among them and any salvage endeavors the Navy sends their direction. NACCS covers every last bit of itâ€"in about a month. Aircrew staff are prepared to assume liability for their whole group, travelers and any salvageable payload, so it should not shock anyone that the two most conspicuous things at aircrew school are physical wellness and swimmingâ€"bunches of swimming. Survival Training for Candidates Applicants must pass nine degrees of water endurance preparing to move on from NACCS. More often than not, when you end up in the water as a pilot, this is on the grounds that something turned out badly, said Water Survival Instructor Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) second Class Cory Smith. We give understudies the certainty they'll have to endure a setback in the water. We cause them to comprehend that they need to get profound and swim away from the boat (or airplane) to abstain from falling flotsam and jetsam, fire, blasts and different Sailors. It makes a difference how you hop into the water. Bounce the incorrect way and you need to attempt to make due with a wrecked leg, disjoined shoulder, or more regrettable. As indicated by Smith, it can take as long as 15 minutes for a salvage helicopter to get off the deck, so enduring an accident implies you need to make it to an actual existence pontoon or track water until help shows up. Aircrew graduates leave knowing suffocate sealing procedures like stepping water, coasting and making it to that life pontoon, regardless of whether it's a mile swim away while wearing somewhere in the range of 45 and 50 lbs. of flight gear. I took in a great deal at water endurance, said Airman Recruit Avery Layton. She considered the track and buoy test (WS-4) the hardest piece of her preparation at aircrew school. I got over being frightened to place my face in the water here on the grounds that I did it so often. What's more, something else … wearing boots doesn't give you more footing in the water. Aircrew staff are depended to accomplish more than complete their main goal. They're required to fill in as guard dogs for the remainder of the group and the airplane to forestall accidents. Something aircrew search for are manifestations of hypoxia. Hypoxia is a state of being the body encounters when blood oxygen levels fall underneath 87 percent, and regularly start at heights over 10,000 feet. Low degrees of oxygen cause eased back engine abilities and weakened judgment. Applicants experience a low-pressure chamber, where aviation physiological technicians like Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Mark Morin instruct the airborne-bound Sailors. Despite the fact that the air team aren't really flying the airplane, Morin stated, they have to comprehend the indications of hypoxia, in such a case that a pilot has hypoxia, everybody on board that plane arrangements with his destiny. Staying Grounded Being on the ground doesn't discharge air crew members from their obligations. At the point when not flying, they perform obligations, for example, airplane support, activities, line division, interchanges and different obligations related with their source evaluations. The aircrew fighting assignment is probably the hardest pin to acquire. The Navy intends to keep it that route as a result of the notoriety that the aircrew wings have earned in the flight network. The aircrew preparing system's notoriety has permitted pilots to confide in aircrews beyond a shadow of a doubt, said Ellenburg. The pilots never re-think the enrolled air group's choices. The awards for moving on from NACCS are brief, with a healthy handshake and a push forward to the following test in the four-section gauntlet that is the aircrew capability process. Notwithstanding passing NACCS, competitors must overcome their source rating A school, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape training lastly qualify on their particular stage at an armada substitution group. At that point, and at exactly that point do these gatekeeper blessed messengers gain their wings and some additional money with profession enrolled flyer motivating force pay. However, that dream stays fluffy for applicants back at NACCS, who are more centered around not gulping too much of water, finishing the feared mile swim and getting away from the tumultuous helicopter dunker, than on the day they get their wings, the sacred goal of these gatekeeper blessed messengers.

Resume Mistakes 10 Examples and Fixes

Resume Mistakes 10 Examples and Fixes 27 Is your resume not getting as many replies as you expect? This is a guest post by Casey Accord. You’re probably not actively seeking ways to make yourself appear LESS professional. But plenty of resumes suggest otherwise. This article outlines the 10 most common things people do that make their resumesâ€"and themselvesâ€"look amateurish, whether or not that’s the intention. 1. Use Comic Sans or some other over-used, impractical font. Hiring managers especially love flowery script that's hard to read!eval Pro Tip: Stick with fonts that are easy to read and professional looking. Great choices are Times New Roman, Georgia, Arial, Verdana, and Tahoma. 2. Include every job you’ve ever hadâ€"even that 2-month gig as a video store clerk in junior high. Pro Tip: If it's not relevant to the positionâ€"or completely outdatedâ€"forget about it. eval 3. Include a bunch of unnecessary personal information like your height, weight, birthday and social security number. (This is especially helpful if your prospective employers are also identity thieves.) Pro Tip: Avoid giving any information that may be too personal or could be used to discriminate against you. Focus on your unique professional traits, not personal ones. 4. Create solid, single-spaced blocks of text in 8-point font to squeeze as much information as possible onto one page. Pro Tip: Use bullets to break up text and make it easier on the eyes. Be concise and organized in your formatting, and if your experience warrants it, allow your resume to fill two pages. The one-page rule is considered by most to be outdated. 5. Use a lot of clichéd buzzwords like self-motivated, outside-the-box, people person, and team player. Pro Tip: Don't waste space with meaningless jargon and corporate-speak. Be authentic and cite specific examples that demonstrate who you are and what you are capable of doing. 6. Throw in a few graphics. A little clip art makes any document more fun. Pro Tip: No. No. No. This is not an art project. It's a resume. Keep it professional. That goes for pictures of yourself as well. Don't do it. 7. Avoid numbers and specifics. Be as vague as possible. Draw them in with mystery. Pro Tip: Quantify your accomplishments. Using real numbers to back up your claims creates a compelling story. 8. Don’t worry a lot about editing. No one cares about proper spelling these days. Pro Tip: All it takes is one typo for a hiring manager to toss your resume. Careless mistakes can make you look sloppy orâ€"even worseâ€"uneducated. Proofreading is an absolute essential. 9. Lie, exaggerate or embellish your qualifications. Just keep your fingers crossed that no one finds out. Pro Tip: You want your resume to represent the real you. The job needs to match your skills. Don't fake it just because you're desperate to get an interview. The truth will always come outâ€"eventually. 10. Use a bunch of cute text lingo and emoticons. This’ll show how tech-savvy and fun you are ?? Pro Tip: Just say no to slang and other “adorable” embellishments. Your resume is not the place for smiley faces. Focus on using powerful words that add value. Save the textese for your BFF. What Format Should You Use to Email Your Resume

What Format Should You Use to Email Your Resume With the advancement of technology, many job seekers choose to submit their resumes to  their prospective employers by email. In fact, many companies request job candidates to  email their resumes rather than mailing the paper version. This not only saves trees, but  also makes things easier for the Human Resource department as most companies store  their records electronically. Some of the common formats include Word (doc), portable  document format (pdf), plain text (txt) and HTML. Each has its own advantages and  disadvantages. The question is, which format  should you use? Microsoft Word Format: Microsoft Word is the standard in many businesses, and most companies have this  software installed on their computers. Microsoft Word allows you to format your resume  according to your needs. However, given the increased risks of viruses, some companies  don’t allow email attachments of certain formats, including Word format. In addition to this,  there may be compatibility issues between different versions of Word that cause glitches  in the formatting. For example, .docx is the default format in the later versions of  Microsoft Word. While this format is becoming more and more common, some  companies may not have the right version of software to open them, and your resume  may become unreadable. Portable Document Format (PDF): Sending your resume in portable document format (PDF) allows you to keep the  formatting, regardless of operating system and software. Most companies allow  attachments in PDF, as the risk of viruses is low with these files. The drawback with PDF  files, however, is that the recipient needs to install a special software such as Adobe  Acrobat Reader, to open a PDF file if he or she has a PC. It is also not possible for the recipient to edit  your resume or reformat it without the right software, which is sometimes  necessary for recruiters when sending resumes through to clients. Plain Text Format: A plain text resume contains no formatting. Rather than attaching your resume as a file to  an email, you can put your resume in the body of the message. It is often used for posting  a resume on a website or job board. With the plain text format, you don’t have to worry  about rejected attachments. However, since you cannot use special text effects and  graphics, your resume may be less visually appealing. Some companies require their job candidates to send their resumes in a particular format. Make sure that you follow the instructions in the job posting. Don’t give your prospective  employers extra work or your resume may be rejected. Regardless of the format you use,  include your name as part of the file name. HTML: HTML is the coding language for documents to be displayed on the web. An HTML resume can be sent as an email attachment or posted on a web site, however not all browsers support HTML documents and it is a potential problem that it could be mistaken for SPAM, which is often sent in HTML format. The strengths of HTML however, are that it retains its formatting and layout when the resume is sent as an email attachment and the recipient can view the document directly from the email browser without the need to download it. You can also post your resume on your website in this format. As you can see, there are benefits for all of these formats, to serve different purposes; so it is important that you take into consideration who it is that you are sending your resume to. For example, from my personal experience working in recruitment, a Word Document works best. This is because recruitment agencies often wish to send resumes to clients in their own  format and are therefore required to copy and paste information from the resume into a new template; something that is not possible with PDFs. It may be a different case when sending your resume directly to the employer however, as reformatting is not necessary.  PDFs are compatible on most devices, so in this case they are probably the safer option.

Does College Make Financial Sense Part 2 - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Does College Make Financial Sense Part 2 - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career In my first installment on this topic, I introduced three methods for comparing the financial paybacks of college education. payback of a specific degree from a specific college, average payback of college for typical professions, and average payback of all students based upon the college attended. Virtually no one considers these factors in deciding whether or not to do college, which profession to pursue, or which college to attend. Face it. The vast majority of people make college decisions based upon non-financial factors. In this post, I want to offer you one additional financial consideration that is normally not considered and then touch on some non-financial factors. One education financial payback factor that most people fail to consider is their time. If I ask if your time is worth anything, you probably would say Yes. Yet, few people consider their time in a college financial analysis. Heres a simple example: Joe is making $90,000 a year and decides to go back to school for two years to get an M.B.A.. So, we need to add $180,000 of lost income to the cost of his degree. If he increases his income $30,000 a year after getting his M.B.A., then we need to add six years (without considering the time value of money) to Joes payback time. So, what about those non-financial factors I mentioned earlier? Here are seven that come to mind. Prestige Yes, Virginia, the human ego is alive and well. Tradition If dad is storming woodchuck, perhaps you should be one, too. Social life College is not just about academics, right? Friends This is related to social life, but is more specific. Many people choose schools based upon where their friends are going. Location Do you want to be a commuter student, be within reasonable driving distance of home, be as far away from your parents as possible, etc.? Academic quality Some people actually choose a school based upon the high quality of education! Or, you could opt for low academics so you can enjoy the social life and minimize your studying. Financial aid I am classifying this as a non-financial factor, which is something of an oxymoron, because the paybacks discussed previously do not consider whether your are paying up-front or are financing it. Aid could entice you to spend more money because you can defer your costs. It is more important than ever that you make a reasoned decision when considering your educational options. In the interest of  you making the best decision possible for your future,  I hope my first post and this one will provide you a better perspective when considering the future consumption of college  education. Also,  I want to leave you with one caution, in case you havent noticed. We live in a different environment than in the past. Most universities and their direct competitors have discovered the world of marketing, with many making unrealistic promises or painting psychological pictures drawn directly from Madison Avenue. Buyer beware!

Your Manager is Not Your Friend - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Your Manager is Not Your Friend - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career It is ok to have a friendly relationship with coworkers. Actually, this makes the work day much more enjoyable. However, becoming friends with direct reports is a little trickier. As the boundaries are getting blurrier in corporate America and the workplaces are shifting to a more casual environment, especially young employees are having difficulty in defining their relationships with their superiors. Therefore, everybody has to consider the below points before considering their managers as their friends. Friends are equals to each other: Your boss is superior to you. However, your friends are your equals. Even if your boss treats you friendly, this doesn’t mean that s/he is your friend. Remember, you are responsible of reporting him/her and s/he is responsible of evaluating you. Friends do not try to change each other: Friends accept each other as is and don’t try to change each other. If your friend tries to change you, then, this is not a real friendship and probably, your friendship won’t last long. On the other hand, your manager can try to change your behaviors or work habits, if s/he thinks your performance is not enough. It is your superior’s job to give you feedback and push you to change yourself for the better. Friends are there to support you: Your true friends are supportive to you no matter what; your boss doesn’t need to be supportive. You can talk with your friends about the things that bother you or problems in the office or sometimes make gossip. Clearly, it is not a good idea to gossip with your boss especially about work related things. S/he also doesn’t need to know about your personal problems, even if s/he has good intentions. Friends do not require a progress report: A true friendship doesn’t have expectations. Nonetheless, in the office, a boss has expectations from his/her employees. S/he checks on your progress to make sure you complete your given tasks. Therefore, this is not a mutual but a one-sided relationship because you are expected to fulfill certain things. Friends are not supposed to be role models: Managers should be good leaders and role models. They are supposed to set examples in the workplace so others can follow them. However, friends are not supposed to do this. They can behave pointless and let their guards down when they are spending time with you. Managers never do this.

Twentysomething Be responsible, go back home after college

Twentysomething Be responsible, go back home after college By Ryan Healy According to Monster.com, 60 percent of college graduates move home with mom and dad after graduation and the trend is on the rise. The statistic holds true with my friends from the class of 2006. More than half moved back to the suburbs to start adult life, much the same way they ended high school life with their parents. A lot of people say generation Y needs to grow up and take some personal responsibility and that we have been coddled by our helicopter parents (see the comments section). But when you look closely, it is glaringly apparent that moving back in with parents is one of the the most responsible things a new college grad can do. By sucking it up at home for a year or two, young people give themselves the opportunity to take control of their career, take control of their finances and transition from the care-free college fantasy world to the real-world of work, marriage, kids, mortgages and car payments. Take control of your career To live comfortably in a big city like New York, students are forced to take a high paying, but less than satisfying job. Often, top graduates end up working for the best paying investment bank or law firm. Im sure you could find a small minority of conservative students who had dreams of becoming an I-banker since middle school, but for the most part these jobs are going to the top tier students who are trying to make a quick buck before they retire at 30 (or so they say). By moving home after graduation, you have little or no rent which allows for more freedom when searching for a job. There is no need to sell out to an investment bank if your real goal is to work with underprivileged children. Depending on where your parents are located, you are probably missing out on the big city night life and social scene, but you have lots of opportunities to find the perfect job, regardless of pay. If ditching the social scene for career sake doesnt demonstrate responsibility and independence, I dont know what does. Take control of your finances Real wages today are lower than they were for the past two generations of workers. Couple that fact with todays insane housing costs and an increase in contract workers not receiving benefits, just getting by on forty or fifty thousand a year in a major city is nearly impossible. Attempting to save any reasonable amount of money the first few years is a joke. However, moving home with mom and dad will immediately save you about $700 a month in housing costs. At least there is some extra cash flow. In two years, you can save up enough to move out on your own without worrying about going into credit card debt for basic necessities like fixing your car or buying groceries. Take an appropriate adjustment period between college and the real world People really do struggle adjusting from college to the real world. A good friend of mine just fulfilled her life long dream of moving to New York. She still loves the city, but she is overwhelmed and doesnt exactly like her day job. Sure, many people go through this tough transition period, and chances are she will eventually enjoy it, but the transition from child to adult is different, and oftentimes, more difficult for todays youth. This period is not a transition, but an actual life stage, according to Jeffrey Arnett, associate professor at University of Missouri and author of Emerging Adulthood: A Theory of Development from the Late Teens through Early Twenties . Arnett describes the period between college and adulthood as, a self- focused stage where people have the freedom to focus on their own development. Notice he calls this period of stage in development and not just a transition between two stages. So why do we still try to go from adolescent to adult in a matter of weeks or months? Moving home for a while enables an appropriate and productive transition. Rather than focus on rent, bills and kids, emerging adults living at home with their parents have the ability to focus on the most important aspects of emerging adult life: figuring out who they are and what career is right for them. Impress The Boss By Empathising With Them - CareerMetis.com

Impress The Boss By Empathising With Them Photo Credit â€" Pexels.comThe best way to be better employee is to empathise with the boss and imagine life in their shoes. Running a business is tough. It is saturated with hard tasks, whether it is marketing, customer service, pleasing shareholders, increasing revenue and making those tough decisions. But despite all of this, one of the toughest tasks, and most important, is being a good motivator. They are the person steering the ship, and that means everyone tends to look up to them for that inspiration. So why not start being an inspiration to your colleagues, a motivator within your team. It will be a surefire way to get you noticed. Why is this important?evalevalWell, motivation is known to be one of the most significant factors when it comes to boost staff efficiency and morale, both of which directly impact productivity. And when your staff’s efficiency and productivity, so does your company’s productivity and growth. But it doesn’t stop there. In fact it goes full circle , because the overall success of a company is recognised as the single most important part of job satisfaction, which will ensure a higher rate of staff retention. Basically, motivation just keeps on giving. Why not explain this the next time you have a meeting with the person at the top?But how do you motivate others? Just read on.1. Lead By ExampleWhether you like it or not, staff need inspiration and motivation. This means doing exactly what you think the boss would like to see and start embodying that. Get into early, increase your work ethic, encouraging communication and embody the values that your company upholds. It may be that this doesn’t come naturally. That’s okay. You can learn, and you can do it for free. It could just be looking at 5 YouTube motivational speakers and seeing what approaches they take. It could be reading books or attending seminars. It doesn’t matter. It is a skill and skills can be taught.2. Pay Attention to IndividualsTeamwork is critical to the success of any company, but a team is made up of individuals all of whom think differently, have different roles, different personalities and different lives. That’s why you need to concentrate on them as individuals too.evalLearn their names, a bit about what drives them, where they are from, their family, as much as you can to show you value them. This is what a good boss will do, and that fact you are taking the initiative will see your colleagues start raving about you behind your back, rumours that could climb to the senior management.A company would collapse without individuals so if you start remembering this and showing them taking an interest they are going to love you. What’s more, the bigger the company the lonelier people can feel, so a simple ‘hello’ to someone in the morning could do wonders to their work ethic and pride.3. Help Them GrowPeople may do a job just to get paid at the end of each month, but they still want to better themselves as people. It may be they are only an intern or junior now, but their ambition could be manager or CEO, and that means they will want all the help they can get acquiring the necessary skills. So why not offer people your assistance, or suggest a training path to your managers, explain how you think gaining qualifications may help. Be the help you wish you had when you started. It will go a long way in getting you recognised when it comes to your annual review.
